Before Jacob was born, and before his name was changed to Israel and he bore any children of Israel, there was his grandfather Abram who followed God into a land in which he had never been. His path brought him to a land that God promised to his offspring. While traveling in this land, Abram’s nephew Lot was captured and Abram gave chase to liberate him to a place the Scriptures call “Dan” (Gen 14).
